A: Yes, the minimum project size is $5,000 for the SFIG program though smaller grants and engineering assistance may be available.
Q: When will I receive my funds?
A: Funds will be delivered once the project is complete and has been verified by RDC and SFIG officials.
Q: Who administers the Facade Improvement Grant program?
A: This program is administered by the Sheridan Redevelopment Commission (RDC), with application support from the SFIG Organization Committee (SMS, Inc.)
Q: What types of improvements are eligible for the grant?
A: Eligible Improvements include but are not limited to:

Q: Are interior improvements eligible?
A: Generally, no. The SFIG focuses on external and structural improvements.
Q: Are matching funds required?
A: Yes, the SFIG program requires a dollar-for-dollar match the by owner or tenant.
For example, to receive a $10,000 grant match, the owner would have needed to complete a $20,000 project. In this case, their all-in financial contribution after reimbursement would be $10,000.
Q: I am sure I will be approved; can I begin work while I wait for approval?
A: No. Work started before a written approval is received could void your eligibility for reimbursement. Please DO NOT begin work on your building until you have received a written approval notice from the RDC.
Q: What is a reference exhibit?
A: A reference exhibit is a design sketch, drawing, or illustration that shows your proposed improvements.
Q: Am I obligated to the design submitted in my reference exhibit?
A: No, you are not obligated to a rigid design. Reference exhibits help guide us and facilitate design consistency throughout the project.

Q: I need help creating my reference exhibit, who can I contact?
A: We can help! Please contact us and we can assist you with this at shared or no cost.
Q: How many quotes am I required to obtain?
A: It is best to obtain three (3) estimates for each scope of work. Waivers may be granted in limited circumstances with written justification.
Q: When will grant funds be paid?
A: Grant funds are REIMBURSED following the successful and verified completion of the project.
Q: Can I apply more than once?
A: Yes, multiple awards per property may be considered within the same calendar year, subject to approval and fund availability.

Q: How quickly will the RDC see my Interest Inventory?
A: The RDC reviews inventories as they are received. You will be contacted directly if you are invited to apply.

Q: How long do I have to submit my application once I have received an invitation?
A: You have six (6) weeks to submit your completed application.

Q: How long does the approval process take?
A: While there is not set approval timeline, once your application is deemed complete, you'll be notified. Your application will then be forwarded to the next scheduled RDC Meeting. The RDC Typically meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6 PM at the Sheridan Community Center (300 East 6th St, Sheridan, IN 46069).
These meetings are open to the public.

The approval process can vary based on many factors such as application completeness and meeting schedules. Once a full application is submitted, applicants are typically notified within two (2) weeks if their request will be considered at the next monthly RDC meeting.

There is no guaranteed approval, funding, or reimbursement timeline.
