Formed in 2007, Sheridan Main Street, Inc. was founded under the leadership of Linda Williams. The early days of the organization were focused on community surveys, a study of Sheridan’s Historic Main Street, and the 2007 listing of the Sheridan Downtown Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
Our organization quickly became known for launching cherished community traditions like the annual Tree Lighting and Halloween on Main Street events, as well as creating pocket parks that contributed to the welcoming, small-town character of downtown Sheridan.
In December 2022, Sheridan Main Street, Inc. reorganized as an ODAN affiliate and began the process of becoming an Indiana Main Street program. On March 6, 2025, Sheridan Main Street, Inc. proudly achieved designation as an Indiana Accredited Main Street, recognizing its commitment to downtown revitalization and community engagement.
Today, our team of volunteers continues to bring together residents, businesses, and local leaders to preserve Sheridan’s history while building new opportunities for the future.
As Main Street, Inc. looks to the future, we are focused on expanding Main Street’s role as the heart of the Sheridan community. We’ll do this through our revitalization campaign, by promoting intentional economic development on Main Street, and supporting the existing small businesses.

We will continue to focus our efforts on strengthening Sheridan’s cultural identity through traditions like the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Halloween on Main. Providing and supporting community engagement opportunities for our residents will help secure the legacy we are working hard to build.​​
